Sunset trip around Don Det

Posted by admin On March - 4 - 2007

After having breakfast somewhere Jenny and me got stomach pain and had to run on the toilet. I took some pills and a little bit rice wine and it got better. At noon I was swimming back to the fullmoon party place and in the late afternoon we did a sunset trip for 20000kip. Was alright but not worth it. Read the rest of this entry »

Dolphins and “Fullmoon party”

Posted by admin On March - 3 - 2007

Today Jenny and me changed early in the morning the accommodation for a cheaper and better one. Then we caught up with the German Arno and the two other Finn guys for doing a little bike tour around the islands to the waterfall and a beach on Don Khong. From the beach we did a tour to watch the rare Hirrawadie dolphins. And we saw some but unfortunately far away. In the evening we all went for 50000kip to a sort of fullmoon party with food. Was a big rip off. Food didn’t taste good. In the end the lady who organized the party had a loud argument with a Laos guy. Read the rest of this entry »

Xieng Khuang Buddha Park

Posted by admin On February - 22 - 2007

After feeling a little bit weak in the morning I decided having a shake and then doing a trip to the Xieng Khuang Buddha Park. First I had to find out where the park was located and how to get there. I bought a postcard with some pictures of the park and showed it to the people. That seem to help. I found out it is about 20km out of Vientiane city but I could take a public bus for 4000kip. Back home the bus leaves all 10min. So i went to the Buddha Park. It cost 5000kip entry and also another 2000kip for doing photography. It was a good idea to come in the afternoon because it was very quite at the park.

Harriet’s birthday

Posted by admin On July - 20 - 2006

Today was Harriet’s birthday. This day was a perfect day for a 19th birthday (wished I could be that young again… The sun was shining and Harriet, Lucie and I went to the beach on the other side, called ‘Oné Beach’. To go there it takes about 20min alongside the sunset hill. The view is amazing since you can see both lagoons. Nananu-I-Ra is such a wonderful paradise. Barely anybody walks along the beautiful back beach.. In the evening everybody was going to watch the sunset at the sunset hill which was one of the best I’ve seen ever.

Nananu-I-Ra – the perfect paradise

Sunday at the beach

Posted by admin On July - 2 - 2006

This sunday is a real ‘sun-day’. It was so sunny that we decide to drive to my favourite beach – the Karekare Beach with the nice waterfall next to it. I love this waterfall it is a perfect one and really beautiful. This time I done some of my photos with my new tripod. So I trained using it for Fiji. Later on Russell brought me to a nice spot the Te Waha Point between Whites and Piha Beach. We watched a wonderful sunset. But the way to the car uphill was really exhausting.

Skyline at sunset

Posted by admin On June - 5 - 2006

This monday was Queensday a public holiday. But as the opposite to Germany the shops here were open. So I was shopping. In the evening Russell and I went to a good spot for the skyline over the marina of Auckland. We watched the beautiful sunset.

From dusk…

Posted by admin On April - 21 - 2006

Friday evening I started in Auckland for a trip on the east coast of the north island of New Zealand. Somebody I knew offered to give me a ride since I don’t have a car.  On the way I saw a massive kiwi sign at a big kiwi plantation. We were in no rush so in the evening we arrived in Whakatane a town at the Bay of Plenty. It was just the right time for making nice sunset photos at the beach. Then I had a great dinner with delicious seafood and I decided to get up at 5:00am the next morning for taking pictures of the sunrise at the ocean.

Don’t forget: If you’re cooking shellfish like this mussels above – cook them in their own juice! Only then you have the typical mussel taste because the water inside is salty. The tap water spoils the taste. Just put enough water in the pot that the ground is filled – not more! Cook them until they open themselves – ready! Mhhhmmmm…..

About Me

“There is nothing more dreadful than the habit of doubt. Doubt separates people. It is a poison that disintegrates friendships and breaks up pleasant relations. It is a thorn that irritates and hurts; it is a sword that kills.
