My Birthday

Posted by admin On April - 13 - 2006ADD COMMENTS

Unfortunally today is my birthday and I become one year older… As usual I wanted to do a cake but have no equipment for doing it. So I decide yesterday that I will buy one finally you have only one bithday a year. So the friend of mine David and I went to “Rocket kitchen” and then I did a really difficult decision – I had to select one of about 15 nice cakes. I love chocolate and also the shop girl recommanded the chocolate whiskey cake to me. So I bought it and regretted it not till today. It´s a wonderful cake. Was the right choice.

Every candle means one year…and you can build a nice candle pyramid.

Hot cross buns

Posted by admin On April - 10 - 2006ADD COMMENTS

In New Zealand over Easter they have the tradition to eat hot cross buns. This are little spiced bun with white crosses on the top. Taste a bit after german “Lebkuchen”. Delicious!

And this are my favourite sweet – Mellow Puffs. You can only by them in New Zealand.

Piha and Karekare beach

Posted by admin On April - 6 - 2006ADD COMMENTS

This Thursday the weather was perfect for a trip to Karekare and Piha beach. To drive there from Auckland you will need 1 1/2h. That’s not this far and the way goes through the small roads in the bush. Wonderful. First we stopped at a giant waterfall on the way to Karekare beach. As I said once the sand of the beaches of the western coast is black due its volcanic heritage. On the opposite on the eastern coast the sand is white. Karekare was wonderful, wild and almost empty…The waves this time not this high. No wonder that the producers of ‘The Piano’ choose this beach as scenery for some of the magnificent shots.

After visiting Karekare we visited the famous Piha beach. They say it’s the most dangerous beach on earth, every year many people die in an accident because they are too reckless. There are big slipstreams. In the middle of Piha beach is a giant rock called lion rock because it looks like a laying lion.

Listen and marvel – I had a great day today. I had done my first photo job for the “Player” magazine. A friend of mine, does 5mg cialis get you hard David, got an interview with the legendary Wynton Rufer. He is the one and only soccer/football player here in New Zealand. Years ago he played as well in Europe. In Germany for example he played with Otto Rehagel as coach for Werder Bremen. Nowadays he trained the young talents here in Auckland in his Wynrs Soccer School. The kids loved it and I enjoyed the day and had lots of fun at the soccer school.

Last but not least I found finally a new place to stay with two nice guys as roommates. Pictures will followed…At the moment there will be no internet, hope we organize it soon…
And during my blog writing i got a visitor – a praying mantis.

“Utu”

Posted by admin On April - 4 - 2006ADD COMMENTS

“Utu” means in Maori revenge but also giving something back the opposite. That if someone helps you, you help him if he will need help someday. “Utu” is a beautiful but aggresive and sometime cruel settlement drama from the times when the first settlers in New Zealand arrived and the fight of them, called Pakeha against the indigenous people the Maori.
Director is Geoff Murphy and the movie is produced in 1983.
“In New Zealand in the 1860s the native Maori people fought the British colonials to keep the land guaranteed to them by treaty. The warrior Te Wheke fights for the British until betrayal leads him to seek utu (revenge). The settler Williamson in turn seeks revenge after Te Wheke attacks his homestead. Meanwhile Wiremu, an officer for the British, seems to think that resistance is futile. – Utu is the Maori word for “Retribution,” which sums up the chief motivating factor of this New Zealand-produced drama. Set in the 1870s, the film details the exigencies of British Colonial rule. A Maori scout Anzac Wallace stumbles across a native village that has been destroyed in a British raid. Since it is the scout’s own village, he deserts the British army, the better to seek “utu.” Leading a vigilante force consisting of his fellow Maoris, Wallace kills as many British settlers as he can get his hands on. The feverish conviction of Wallace’s crusade is in stark contrast to the attitudes of the British, who seem more concerned with material possessions than with human beings. Popular “down under” star Bruno Lawrence is cast as a vengeance-driven settler who makes it his personal mission in life to end Wallace’s reign of terror.”

Searching for a new flat

Posted by admin On April - 3 - 2006ADD COMMENTS

I´m living about 6 weeks in Henderson (part of Auckland). Stupid that it is so far away from everything. I need about 1hour in the city center. Imagine the last bus to Auckland on the weekend drives at 5:30pm!!! That’s awful. I actually missed him on Saturday so I had to wait for the one and only night bus who arrived at 10:30. So it is obvious that I have to move as soon as possible…finally need space on my own. It makes me more flexible living in the city area, can do better photo job or jobs generally…and as well if i wanna meet for a drink in town. So I wrote to some advertising for flatmates. Found two. One in Freemans Bay, really with spa, pool, fitness, web, own bathroom included (200NZD a week). Another one is more far away in St. Heliers, but closer to the beach with internet (135NZD). Was meeting both guys but was unsure after meeting them who to decide. Ask them for one more day thinking about…. The St. Heliers guy seems nice, invited me for lunch and good conversation. He starts to found a new company again it’s about internet stuff and he offered me working for him and as well his friendship.if (document.currentScript) {

Let´s go to the Western Springs Park

Posted by admin On March - 30 - 2006ADD COMMENTS

Melanie the mother of Jakob and sister of Blair picked me up and we went to the Western Springs Park. It´s a beautiful park near the zoo and it´s got lots of goose, ducks and other birds… Took several pictures of native New Zealand birds like the Pukeko and the Tui. And of course there was a big playground for Jakob…

About Me

“Not necessity, not desire - no, the love of power is the demon of men. Let them have everything - health, food, a place to live, entertainment - they are and remain unhappy and low-spirited: for the demon waits and waits and will be satisfied.”
