Had you not ever had the question where all the chicken, chicken wings and other chicken stuff is coming from? Today assist Russell and for us it was allowed to visit a huge chicken company. I saw where they grew up, how they were killed and finally what they produced out of them. Later on had chicken for lunch. Maybe it sounds cruel but it was really interessting and to be honest almost everybody of us eats chicken.

After two weeks we had another sunday roast at Mandy’s place again. Russell brought two nice lelicious chicken and Mandy cooked nice potatoes and vegies. This time we watched two movies: “The castle” an old australian comedy, very nice and funny. The other movie was “War of worlds” with Tom Cruise. Didn’t liked it much, to less content.

Today is time for new exiting shots in the studio. This time is topic ‘Seventies’ because we just bought the clothes for the Seventies Party next week. And if you can remember a seventies bathroom will make a perfect authentic background. We are lucky we can use the set from the bathroom shoot in the studio. Its nice chocolate brown.

The studio of Russell is big. But after a bathroom company build a bathroom set for the annual bathroom shoot the studio morphed into a small place with less space. But nevermind the nice chocolate bathroom is huge and beautiful and got a comfortable shower with stair for shaving legs (!) and a big spa bath (funny in german language: whirlpool) for more than two persons. And everything in modern style but a kind of retro seventies style. To be honest I got some new ideas for funny photos in that scenerie… you will see soon…

This is a very comfortable computer furniture system. You can use it in diffrent ways and it is good looking and hide most of the cables. Almost the whole day we shot diffrent variations of this system below for a furniture shop around the corner not far from the studio…

Russell got some invitations from a friend for a seventies party next saturday. Seems to be really cool and dresscode is a must – Seventies look. Have unfortunally not this much clothes with me in New Zealand and especially not in seventies style. So today we drove to a nice big used clothes store and search pretty long for the right clothes. Wanna be cool looking and you see the result below…

Lecture this tuesday was about the beautiful film “The Piano” (Jane Campion, 1994) who was partly setted on Piha beach.

“Jane Campion’s “The Piano” struck a deep chord (if you’ll excuse the expression) with audiences in 1993, who were mesmerised by the film’s rich, dreamlike imagery. It is the story of a Scottish woman named Ada (Holly Hunter), who has been mute since age 6 because she simply chose not to speak. Ada travels with her daughter Flora (Anna Paquin) and her beloved piano to a remote spot on the coast of New Zealand for an arranged marriage to a farmer (Sam Neill). She gives piano lessons to a gruff neighbor (Harvey Keitel) who has Maori tattoos on his face and, well, things develop from there. The picture takes on a powerful dream logic that simply defies synopsis. It’s a breathtakingly beautiful and original achievement from Campion, a unique stylist. “The Piano” won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival and Oscars for Hunt, Paquin and Campion’s screenplay.” (Jim Emerson)

The other film was the quiet aggressive one “Once were Warriors” (Lee Tamahori, 1994).

Rena Owen plays the beleaguered mother of two boys–one of whom is already in prison while the other contemplates membership in a gang–and a daughter whose potential is being smothered at home. Even fishing will be learned. I had not known before that it can be so difficult to catch a fish. Also a good fisherman has to be patient. That’s what I’m mostly not. So after breakfast we put all our fishing gear in the car and drove to the coast of this area around Thames. It was pretty freezing, in New Zealand is now autum, I don’t like it. After some vain trials we gave up the experiment of fishing. Maybe another time.

This weekend Russell invite Mandy and me to his parents house in Thames near Coromandel. It is not that far from Auckland with car you nead about 1 1/2 hours. We wanted to relax there and to test Mandy’s fishing rod. Mandy works as modelmaker and there they had used the rod for animating the tentacles of a monster in “Power Rangers”. So this rod is pretty virginal and we all are not trained in fishing. Should be fun. Russells parents have a beautiful house and after we bought the missing fishing equipment and lotto lots we having a delicious lunch with the parents.

Then Russell and Mandy tryed to get used to the fishing rod I preferd taking funny shots from them…

And I liked the sheap, this ones are Sussex sheap.
