We left Don Det at the 4000 islands at 8:00am. Then we took a horrible bus for too many people to the border in the woods. Had to pay an extra dollar for the customs. Next minivan brought us to from the border to a ferry and after that we changed again. That bus broke on the way. And not even that, we also drove over a pig!!! The driver didn’t care he drove like hell. The pig was dead. Lucky that we made it after 13hours halfway to Siem Riep. We slept in the most disgusting place ever with ants and cockroaches in Kompong Cham. Read the rest of this entry »

Sunset trip around Don Det
After having breakfast somewhere Jenny and me got stomach pain and had to run on the toilet. I took some pills and a little bit rice wine and it got better. At noon I was swimming back to the fullmoon party place and in the late afternoon we did a sunset trip for 20000kip. Was alright but not worth it. Read the rest of this entry »
Dolphins and “Fullmoon party”
Today Jenny and me changed early in the morning the accommodation for a cheaper and better one. Then we caught up with the German Arno and the two other Finn guys for doing a little bike tour around the islands to the waterfall and a beach on Don Khong. From the beach we did a tour to watch the rare Hirrawadie dolphins. And we saw some but unfortunately far away. In the evening we all went for 50000kip to a sort of fullmoon party with food. Was a big rip off. Food didn’t taste good. In the end the lady who organized the party had a loud argument with a Laos guy. Read the rest of this entry »

Temple watching and a fountain in the bathroom
Chris and I watched a couple of temple today. In the evening we went for dinner and met a funny couple with them we went later on to the last place what was opened in Luang Prabang – the bowling bar. And who did I met – Jost, a friend of Andy, we didn’t see for at least 3 years. We hang out and went later to the Mekong. When we decided to go home i offered Jost to stay with us because it was to far for him. Chris was so drunk, it was 4:00am and somehow he broke the sink from the wall. The sink was completely destroyed and we had a big fountain at the bathroom. Was really embarrassing when the lady came and had to fix it at night. Read the rest of this entry »
Xieng Khuang Buddha Park
After feeling a little bit weak in the morning I decided having a shake and then doing a trip to the Xieng Khuang Buddha Park. First I had to find out where the park was located and how to get there. I bought a postcard with some pictures of the park and showed it to the people. That seem to help. I found out it is about 20km out of Vientiane city but I could take a public bus for 4000kip. Back home the bus leaves all 10min. So i went to the Buddha Park. It cost 5000kip entry and also another 2000kip for doing photography. It was a good idea to come in the afternoon because it was very quite at the park.

Second try to steal my backpack – only 6 hours later!!!
In the morning I had to change the bus the Lao. I asked if there would be enough time for the visa and they say everything will be fine. At the border it took ages for doing the visa. Finally I got it but the bus was gone. And with it my backpack. I was desperate and started crying. I had to hire a taxi and luckily I got my bag back at the main bus station. I think the bus driver and taxi driver worked together just for getting more money. I stay in Joe guesthouse. In the afternoon I do a little bit sight seeing in Vientiane. Leaving to Lao
The bus leaves at 7:00pm. As entered the bus I noticed I was the only white, the only foreigner. Never mind I thought by myself, its just because its the second class bus. VIP buss tickets were sold out but I wanted to leave to Lao. We left Chiang Mai outside it was pitch black and every now and then I noticed a bushfire. After a while driving through the night I felt asleep. Out of a sudden the noise of the engine changed and I realized that the bus stopped. Did not know why at this time until I noticed about 20 soldiers in camouflage outfits, boots and armed with machine guns. Where were they coming from? Somehow the driver gave them a backpack. I was still quite tired and curious what will happened next. But what a shock – it was MY backpack!!! (I realized my flag applications I did for recognizing my luggage at the airport.) And those soldiers were trying violently to open it. Everything I owned on my trip was in there inclusive my Apple Powerbook laptop and of course all my photos of that trip so far. Its priceless. Suddenly the driver was starting the engine again and made himself ready to go. So I didn’t hesitate for long before jumping out of the bus into those armed soldiers. I started screaming and shouted:”Take your hands of my backpack you fucking bastards! Its MINE!!!” I took it back to the bus complaining at the bus driver. He pretended not to understand English. I felt so helpless and alone and paranoid. At the next bus stop for fuel I forced the bus driver to give me my backpack I wanted it with me inside the bus. But surprisingly or not the driver couldn’t open the door to my bag. I was shouting and after about 30min I had my bag. I already thought its gone but I got it. cialis compare levitra viagra
